Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other operational reasons. The current version will always be available on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect when changes were last made. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.

02

What Personal Information We Collect

Information you provide to us:

  • Name, email address, phone number, and postal address
  • Order details and purchase history
  • Vehicle registration number
  • Serial numbers from identification and entitlement documents (required by law — see Section 05)
  • Any correspondence sent via our contact forms or email

Information collected automatically:

  • IP address, browser type, and device information
  • Site usage data (pages visited, time on site, interactions)
  • Cookie and tracking data (see Section 07)

Information from third parties: We may receive data from payment processors, delivery partners, analytics providers, and advertising platforms in connection with your orders or interactions with our site. This includes behavioural and interaction data collected via tracking technologies such as the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Google Analytics (see Sections 06 and 07).

03

How We Use Your Information

We use your personal data to:

  • Process, fulfil, and manage your orders, deliveries, and any returns
  • Communicate with you regarding your orders and customer service queries
  • Meet our legal obligations, including compliance with RNPS regulations
  • Prevent fraud, detect abuse, and maintain the security of our site
  • Analyse and improve our website, products, and customer experience
  • Send marketing communications where you have opted in to receive them

04

Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)

We only process your personal data where we have a lawful basis to do so. Depending on the activity, we rely on:

  • Contract performance — to process and fulfil your order
  • Legal obligation — to comply with RNPS requirements and other applicable law
  • Legitimate interests — to improve our services, prevent fraud, and maintain site security, where these interests are not overridden by your rights
  • Consent — for marketing communications and non-essential cookies, which you may withdraw at any time

05

RNPS Compliance & Document Retention

As a Registered Number Plate Supplier (RNPS), we are legally required under the Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 to collect and retain the following information for a minimum of 3 years from the date of each transaction:

  • Customer name and address
  • Vehicle registration number
  • Serial numbers from proof of identity and proof of entitlement documents

Please note: This information may be disclosed to the DVLA, the Police, or other authorities upon lawful request. This is a statutory obligation we cannot override.

Beyond RNPS requirements, we retain order and account data for up to 6 years in line with our obligations under UK tax and business law. Marketing data is retained until you withdraw consent or unsubscribe.

06

Who We Share Your Information With

We may share your personal data with the following categories of third party, only to the extent necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Payment processors — including Stripe and PayPal, to securely process transactions
  • Fulfilment and delivery partners — including Royal Mail, to despatch and track your order
  • Platform providers — including Shopify, who host and operate our website
  • Analytics platforms — including Google Analytics (operated by Google LLC), which collects anonymised usage data to help us understand how our site is used. This data may be processed outside the UK. You can opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Advertising and remarketing platforms — including Meta Platforms (Facebook/Instagram) via the Meta Pixel, which tracks your interactions with our site to enable targeted advertising and measure ad performance. This data is shared with Meta and may be used by Meta in accordance with their own data policy. The Meta Pixel only operates where you have consented to non-essential cookies.
  • Authorities — including the DVLA and Police, where required by law or court order

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes, and we do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

07

Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate our website, remember your preferences, and — where you consent — to analyse usage and support advertising. These fall into two categories:

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to function (e.g. your shopping basket, security tokens). These do not require your consent.
  • Non-essential cookies and tracking technologies — including:
    • Google Analytics — tracks anonymised site usage data to help us improve our website
    • Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) — tracks your interactions with our site and pages to enable us to deliver targeted advertising on Facebook and Instagram, and to measure the effectiveness of our ad campaigns. Data collected via the Meta Pixel may be transmitted to and processed by Meta Platforms Inc., including outside the UK.
These technologies are only active where you have given your consent, which you can manage or withdraw at any time via our cookie settings or your browser preferences.

Disabling non-essential cookies will disable both Google Analytics tracking and the Meta Pixel. This will not prevent you from using the site but means you may see less relevant advertising on third-party platforms.

08

International Data Transfers

Some of our third-party service providers — including Shopify and Google — may store or process your data outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as reliance on the UK's adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses approved by the ICO, to ensure your data receives an equivalent level of protection.

09

Data Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. Our site is served over HTTPS and payments are handled by PCI-DSS compliant processors. However, no method of transmission or storage is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify you and the ICO as required by law.

10

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

  • Right of access — to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — to ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Right to erasure — to request deletion of your data where there is no lawful reason for us to continue holding it
  • Right to restriction — to ask us to limit how we process your data in certain circumstances
  • Right to data portability — to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format where processing is based on consent or contract
  • Right to object — to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing
  • Right to withdraw consent — at any time where processing is based on your consent, without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing

Please note: Certain rights — particularly the right to erasure — may be limited where we are required to retain data under RNPS regulations or other legal obligations. We will always explain this clearly if it applies to your request.

To exercise any of your rights, contact us at info@paramountplates.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.

11

Children's Privacy

Our services are intended for individuals aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect or process personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from it shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
