Retro number plates with pyramid-cut black characters
Retro number plates use black acrylic characters cut to a pyramid profile. Instead of a flat top, each character face slopes inward from its edge to a central ridge, so the strokes catch the light along their peaks in the manner of the raised lettering on classic pressed plates.
Character construction
Each character is 3mm high at its ridge and tapers to the plate at its outline, with no vertical edge. The sloped faces reflect light differently on each side of the ridge, so the registration reads with a highlighted and a shaded face from most angles.
- Character material: black acrylic.
- Raised character profile: 3mm at the ridge, tapering to the edge.
- Finish: gloss black sloped faces.
- Matching standard front and rear pair: £64.99 before optional extras.
Choosing this finish
Choose Retro if you want raised characters with a classic, sculpted look rather than the sharp vertical edges of a 4D plate. A Standard plate shows the faceted faces at their clearest, while Short and Hex change the outer proportions as well. The lettering finish can be selected independently for the front and rear.
Compare 3D Gel Resin for a smooth domed character, or 4D 3mm Acrylic for a flat-topped character of the same height.
Build your front and rear plates
Start from a matching standard pair at £64.99. Standard shape is included; Short adds £5 per plate and Hex adds £10. A printed black border is £1 per plate. Flags or a green flash are £2 per selected plate on Standard and Short.
Choose a single front, single rear or pair in the plate builder. Keep “Same as front” selected for matching options, or set the lettering, shape, flag and border separately for each side. The same registration appears on both plates.
