Outline number plates, previously called Ghost, use a 3mm black acrylic character base topped with a 3mm black outline layer. The result is a 6mm raised profile with a distinct outline detail on each character, while the lettering remains black throughout.
The outline is part of the raised character construction. It follows the shape of each letter and number above the full acrylic base, creating a different surface profile from a solid top layer. This character detail is separate from the optional black border around the outside of the plate.
Choose Outline when the shape of the lettering is the feature you want to emphasise. Rotate the 3D preview to look at the raised outline, then compare it with Shadow. Both are layered black acrylic finishes with a 6mm profile, but their upper character details produce different appearances.

Start from a matching standard pair at £74.99. Standard shape is included; Short adds £5 per plate and Hex adds £10. A printed black border is £1 per plate. Flags or a green flash are £2 per selected plate on Standard and Short.
Choose a single front, single rear or pair in the plate builder. Keep “Same as front” selected for matching options, or set the lettering, shape, flag and border separately for each side. The same registration appears on both plates.
Paramount Plates makes your physical plates to order. Free Royal Mail Tracked 48 delivery is included with plate orders. Production follows identity and registration entitlement checks; see accepted documents. Our 36-month manufacturing warranty applies under its published terms.
Legal requirement
To legally produce your number plates we’re required to verify your identity and entitlement to the registration. You can upload both after you order (a phone photo is fine); we’ll show you how.
