4D 5mm Acrylic number plates have laser-cut black characters with a 5mm raised profile. They use the same defined acrylic style as our 3mm option, with an extra 2mm of character depth for a more pronounced side view.
The flat character face and straight acrylic edges make depth the main distinction. Look at the plate from an angle to compare the height of the letters against the reflective background. The 5mm specification is the lettering thickness, not the overall thickness of the finished number plate.
This is the deeper of our two plain acrylic lettering options. It is a useful choice when you like a solid black character face and want more depth without adding a gel overlay. A printed border can define the plate outline while leaving the lettering construction unchanged.
For a lower acrylic profile, see 4D 3mm Acrylic. For a different layered construction, compare Shadow or Outline; both have a 6mm profile but different character detailing.
Start from a matching standard pair at £54.99. Standard shape is included; Short adds £5 per plate and Hex adds £10. A printed black border is £1 per plate. Flags or a green flash are £2 per selected plate on Standard and Short.
Choose a single front, single rear or pair in the plate builder. Keep “Same as front” selected for matching options, or set the lettering, shape, flag and border separately for each side. The same registration appears on both plates.
Paramount Plates makes your physical plates to order. Free Royal Mail Tracked 48 delivery is included with plate orders. Production follows identity and registration entitlement checks; see accepted documents. Our 36-month manufacturing warranty applies under its published terms.
Legal requirement
To legally produce your number plates we’re required to verify your identity and entitlement to the registration. You can upload both after you order (a phone photo is fine); we’ll show you how.

A phone photo of your V5C logbook and your photocard driving licence, uploaded after you order. Just assigned a private registration online? The eV948 the DVLA gives you works too, but only for 3 working days.
